Use several different communication tools to promote standardization

Good communication with stakeholders is the key to the promotion of standardization. A clear communication plan can outline the different activities. Communication is very often a matter of repeating the message several times in different ways. This implies that in order to communicate efficiently both a variety of communication tools and good timing are essential.

General information on standardization needs to be communicated repeatedly. Also during the standardization process, organizations could be informed at different stages of the development process of standards.

Communication should have a clear objective. Knowledge of the target group and potential impact of different available tools is essential. Communication should be done from a customers' perspective and in easy to understand language.

Target groups could for instance be:

  • government
  • politicians
  • multinationals
  • consumers
  • employees

  • etc.
